Are you and your kids addicted to food?

This is a shout out for anyone who’s thought about joining Feel Look Be but, for whatever reason, is still sitting on the fence.

Maybe you think it’s all about hardcore workouts? Well, I’m here to tell you it isn’t. The workouts are a tiny part of it, even if you don’t do them you’ll still lose weight.

No, my programme is centred around health and the cornerstone of that is good nutrition. I’ve been banging that drum for years now and it looks like the world is starting to listen.

Last night the BBC showed a programme called ‘What are we feeding our kids?’ If you didn’t watch it, I strongly recommend you do.

In the programme TV doctor, Chris van Tulleken swaps his healthy, mostly unprocessed diet for ultra-processed, chemical laden, sugar and salt-stuffed foods. You know the sort of thing. Convenience foods. Microwave foods. Pizzas. Burgers. Chicken strips. Curries. Lasagne. The type of food that is so distantly related to the stuff that grows in fields or on trees, it doesn’t deserve to be called food.

While he stuffs his face with junk, he also gorges on research about industrialised-food. He discovers that it’s precision engineered and tweaked, following multiple taste tests, to reach a nirvana stage called ‘hyperpalatability’ or the ‘bliss point’.

Essentially, he moves from eating three meals a day to grazing throughout the day because his hunger hormones are in overdrive. The more he eats, the more he wants. He can’t stop eating.

At the end of the four-week test, he’s put on weight, developed a paunch and moobs, his skin is sallow and unhealthy looking. But the truly frightening part was his brain. An MRI scan showed it lit up like an addict’s. I suppose that explains why he couldn’t stop eating!

The programme finishes when Dr Chris interviews the CEO of the Food and Drink Federation. He asks, at a time of rising obesity, what comes first – profit or public health? The answer he receives is profit.

There you have it. The food giants are putting profit before people. They’re turning families into addicts and processed food is our drug of choice.

I think you deserve better which is why, on my Feel Look Be programme I don’t just hand you a meal plan and tell you to get on with it. I tell you which foods are good for you and which aren’t. Which foods cause inflammation and disease and which don’t. I explain the science and give you the chance to heal your body from the inside out.

My dad’s lifestyle was shocking and he died at the age of 56 because of it. That’s why I do what I do and that’s why the thousands of women I work with are losing weight, reversing diabetes, fatty liver disease, hypertension and lifestyle related disease.

If you’re still on the fence, it’s time to get off it. Do it for you. Do it for your kids.

Feel Look Be is enrolling now. I hope to see you there!
